해설문

국문

농운정사는 퇴계선생의 제자들이 공부하던 기숙사이다. 퇴계선생이 직접 설계하고 건물 모양을 ‘工(공)’자 모양으로 하였는데, 공부를 열심히 하라는 의미였다.

농운정사는 세 부분으로 구성되었다. 오른쪽 마루는 시습재(時習齋)로 공부를 하는 곳이고, 왼쪽 마루는 관란헌(觀欄軒)으로 휴식을 취하는 공간이었다. 잠을 자는 방은 마루 뒤쪽에 있으며 지숙료(止宿寮)라고 하였다. 그만하고 자라는 뜻이다.

Nongunjeongsa Dormitory

This was a dormitory for Yi Hwang's students. Yi Hwang himself designed the structure of the building in the form of the Chinese character "工," which means "to endeavor."

This building consists of three sections: an underfloor-heated room at the center and a wooden-floored hall on either side. The room is named Jisungnyo, which can be interpreted as "a room not for more study, but for rest," and was used as a place for sleeping. The wooden-floored halls on the left and right are a study hall and leisure area, respectively.
