해설문

봉분의 지름이 13.4~14.5m에 이르는 고총고분으로, 1987년 11월에서 1988년 2월 사이에 M3호분과 함께 조사되었다. 봉분의 중앙부에는 덧널(木槨)을 만들고 그 가운데에 칸막이벽(隔壁)을 설치하여 피장자를 안치한 으뜸덧널(主槨)과 유물을 부장한 딸린덧널(副槨)로 구분하였다.

유물은 으뜸덧널의 중앙부에 안치한 피장자의 발치쪽에서 발걸이(鐙子)와 안장(鞍裝), 말띠드리개(杏葉) 등의 말갖춤과 몇 점의 토기가, 머리쪽과 왼쪽 팔목 부근에서 금제귀걸이와 금제팔찌가, 딸린덧널에서 토기 34점 등이 출토되었다.

이 고분은 M1호분과 함께 ｢다라국｣의 발전기를 보여주는 중요한 고분으로, 특히 으뜸덧널에서 발견된 사람의 뼈(人骨) 일부는 여성의 다리뼈로 밝혀져 이 고분에 묻힌 주인공은 여성으로 왕비 또는 왕족이었던 것으로 추정되고 있다.

Tomb No. M2 - Ancient Tombs in Okjeon, Hapcheon

This tomb was excavated from November 1987 to February 1988 at the same time as Tomb No. M3. The tomb's burial mound measured 13.4 m by 14.5 m in diameter and featured a stone chamber inside with a stone partition wall to separate the main chamber for the body and the auxiliary chamber for the burial goods.

The tomb is presumed to belongs to a queen or a lady of the royal family, as part of a leg bone discovered in the main chamber was identified as female. Near the body's teeth, various horse-riding accessories such as stirrups, a horse saddle, and ornaments from the horse’s hip strap, as well as earthenware were found. Near the head and left wrist, gold earrings and gold bracelets were excavated. In the auxiliary chamber, 34 pieces of earthenware were discovered.
