해설문
국문
합미성은 팔공산 정상에서 남쪽으로 뻗어 내려오는 능선의 정상부에 자리하고 있다. 이곳은 장수와 남원을 통과하는 길목을 훤히 볼 수 있어 군사적으로 중요한 위치이다. 합미성 이란 이름은 후백제 군사들이 전쟁을 대비해 식량을 모았다고 하여 붙여진 것이라고 한다. 최근 발굴조사에서 가야와 후백제 유물들이 발견됨으로써 삼국시대에 성을 쌓고 후백제 때 주로 활용된 것으로 밝혀졌다. 현재까지 발견된 성내 주요 시설로는 치성(성의 일부분을 돌출시켜 성벽에 오르는 적들을 제압하기 위해 만든 시설) 3개소와 우물, 배수구, 물을 모으는 집수시설 3개소가 있다. 성을 쌓는 방식이 견고하고 우수하여 다른 산성에 비해 성벽이 비교적 잘 남아 있다.

This stone fortress is presumed to have been built during the Three Kingdoms period (57 BCE-668 CE). It was mainly used by the army of the Later Baekje kingdom (892-936) whose capital was in today’s Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do Province.

영문 해설 내용
합미성은 삼국시대에 지어진 것으로 추정된다. 전라북도 전주 지역에 도읍을 두고 있던 후백제 군사들이 주로 사용하였다.
치성 3개소와 작은 우물, 배수구, 집수시설 등이 발견되었다.
합미성이라는 이름은 후백제 군사들이 전쟁을 대비해 쌀을 모아두었다고 해서 붙여진 것이다.
