Taepyeong Beacon Station, located on Seongjaebong Peak (830 m above sea level), is presumed to have been first built by people of the Gaya confederacy (42–532) based in this area. This ancient beacon station was reconstructed in 1595 in the Joseon period (1392-1910). It received signals from Jangansan Beacon Station in the southeast and transmitted them to the one in Tanhyeonseong Fortress in the northwest.
