These three commemorative pavilions were built for Song Sang-hyeon (1551-1592), a patriot who died fighting the Japanese during the Imjin War (1592-1598), and faithful and virtuous ladies from his family. The pavilion at the center is for Song and his two wives. A commemorative plaque for Song was bestowed by the royal court in 1594 for his loyal devotion to the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). When his two wives were honored in 1704, the pavilion was rebuilt to house all three commemorative plaques. The present building was repaired in 1954. The other two pavilions on each side are for wives of Song’s descendants. One family having three commemorative pavilions is exceptional.
