The women’s quarters faces north toward the royal palace in the capital. The main men’s quarters is located to the left of the main gate on an unusual angle to observe anyone going to and coming from the women’s quarters, which could only be accessed via the inner gate on the left of the secondary men’s quarters. This unusual layout aimed to minimize the exposure of the women’s quarters and fully control access to it. The secondary men's quarters, women's quarters, and two storehouses form a square layout with a courtyard in the middle. The shrine is located in the rear right of the property.

The village where this house is located, Imdang-ri, was home to a lineage of eunuchs for 400 years since the mid-Joseon period. Even though eunuchs were unable to have their own biological children, they still got married to women to form socio-policial ties and formally adopted an orphan or another eunuch as their male heir to create a male lineage, which was of great importance in the Confucian culture of the time. The genealogical record of the family that lived in this house includes the names of the male lineage from the 2nd to the 16th generation, their official posts, the clans of their wives, and the locations of their tombs.
