창녕 지석묘는 청동기시대에 만들어진 무덤 고인돌이다. 제사를 지내는 제단 고인돌로 보는 견해도 있다.

고인돌은 생김새에 따라 책상처럼 세우는 탁자식(북방식)과 큰 돌을 조그만 받침돌로 고이거나 아예 받침돌이 없는 바둑판식(남방식)으로 나눌 수 있는데, 창녕지석묘는 바둑판식이다. 7~10기가 북두칠성 모양으로 배치되어 있어 칠성바위라고 부르기도 한다. 현재는 덮개돌 1기와 받침돌 6개만 남아 있다. 예로부터 과거를 보러 가기 전에 이곳에서 치성을 드리면 급제한다 하여 주변 지역의 유생들이 이곳에 절을 하고 과거길에 올랐다고 한다.
