해설문
국문
창녕 관룡사 석장승은 관룡사로 가는 길 양쪽에 서 있는 한 쌍의 돌 장승이다. 절 입구에 세워 절의 경계를 표시하고 잡귀의 출입을 막아 불법을 지키며 풍수지리적으로 허한 곳의 기운을 불어넣는 역할을 한다.
왼쪽에는 남자 장승이 있고 오른쪽에는 여자 장승이 있는데, 장승의 몸에 아무런 글이 없어 제작 시기나 구체적인 명칭은 알 수 없다. 다만 몸의 표현이 생략된 채 커다란 눈과 주먹코, 송곳니가 나온 입 등 과장된 얼굴 묘사로 미루어 볼 때 전라도 지역의 조선시대 석장승과 유사하여 제작 시기를 추정해 볼 수 있다. 두 장승은 불교와 민간신앙이 결합한 신앙물로서 소박한 미의식이 돋보이는 조선 후기의 작품으로 평가된다.

Sometimes they mark the boundaries between different areas. Usually they are placed in a set of female and male as a symbol of yin and yang in harmony.
This pair of stone guardian posts stand facing each other at the entrance to Gwallyongsa Temple. It is unknown when they were made and erected here, because there is no inscription on their bodies.

영문 해설 내용
장승은 나무나 돌로 만든 사람 모양의 형상으로, 마을 입구나 길가에 세워졌다. 마을을 수호해준다고 여겨졌으며, 때로는 지역 간의 경계를 나타내기도 하였다. 장승은 보통 남녀로 배치해 음양의 조화를 나타낸다.
