해설문

국문

청원리 이씨고가는 1880년(순조 23)에 안채 8칸, 겹집*을 지었으나 지금은 안채 8칸, 사랑채 5칸, 곳간채 3칸, 헛간 6칸, 대문이 남아 있다.

건물은 안채와 사랑채가 일자형(一字形)이고 대문채와 헛간 등이 사랑채를 중심으로 ㅁ자형으로 되어 일반적인 남쪽 지방 부유층의 민가 형태를 따르고 있다.

안채의 경우 5칸 중에 1칸이 대청마루인데 유달리 크다. 그리고 대청마루 뒷벽은 통풍을 위하여 나무 벽을 하는 것이 보통이지만 미서기문*을 달아 제사용구를 보관하는 기능을 더하여 대청이 점차 의례용 공간으로 확대되었다.

  • 겹집 : 하나의 용마루 아래 두 줄로 나란히 방을 만든 집
  • 미서기문 : 문짝이 2개 이상인 문으로 문짝이 한쪽으로 겹쳐 열리게 만든 문

영문 해설 내용

이 집은 재령이씨 가문의 이회가 1880년에 지었다. 조선시대의 문신인 이정(1541-1613)이 만년에 부인의 고향인 진주로 이주한 이후, 재령이씨 후손들이 대대로 진주 여러 마을에 살고 있다.

집은 앞에서부터 대문채, 사랑채, 안채가 배치되어 있고, 사랑채 왼쪽에는 안채로 들어갈 수 있는 중문과 곳간채가 있다. 안채는 대청을 중심으로 양옆에 온돌방이 있고, 맨 왼쪽에는 부엌이 있다. 대청에는 문을 설치하고 제사용구를 보관할 수 있는 공간을 마련했고, 부엌과 방 뒷편에는 벽장을 설치했다.
