해설문
국문
조헌(1544~1592) 선생의 충절을 추모하기 위한 비로, 조헌선생 생가터에 세운 유허비이다.
유림 신응순 등의 발원에 의해 1617년(광해군 9)에 건립되었으며, 1648년(인조 26) 우저서원이 세워지면서 현재는 서원 내에 안치되어 있다.
장방형의 받침돌 위에 대리석 몸돌만을 올린 형태로 총 높이는 207cm이다. 조선 중기 4대 문장가 중 한 사람인 월사(月沙) 이정구가 비문을 지었으며, 김현성이 해서체로 글씨를 썼다.
비문에는 비를 건립하게 된 배경과 공의 사적이 기록되어 있으며, 임진왜란기의 의병활동과 유교의 애군, 우국 정신이 잘 드러나 있다.

이 비는 조선시대의 문신 조헌(1544-1592)의 충절을 추모하기 위해 세웠다.
이 비는 1617년에 그의 생가 터에 세워졌다. 그 자리에 1648년 우저서원이 세워졌고, 이후로 서원 내에 안치되어 있다. 비문에는 비를 건립하게 된 배경과 조헌의 행적이 기록되어 있다. 조선 중기 뛰어난 문장가 중 한 사람인 이정구가 비문을 지었으며, 김현성이 글씨를 썼다.
