The Japanese troops invaded Busan and captured Dadaejinseong Fortress on the 13th day of the 4th lunar month in the year 1592. Yun Heung-sin and his younger brother Yun Heung-je mobilized the civilians to fight the invaders and died protecting their land. However, their act of bravery was soon forgotten and was not acknowledged even after the war. Later in 1761, the governor of Gyeongsang-do Province Jo Eom (1719-1777) came into possession of a document describing the heroic feat of Yun Heung-sin and asked the royal court for its acknowledgment. In 1765, the navy commander in Dadaejin district(?) Yi Hae-mun (1712-1772) oversaw the construction of the altar.

The altar was originally located inside Dadaejinseong Fortress on the premises of the present-day Dadae Elementary School. It was moved to its current location in 1970.  The inscription on the stele in the middle of the altar reads “The altar of the navy commander Yun Heung-sin.” The inscription at the back of the stele records his honorable act. 해설문

국문

윤공단은 임진왜란 때 다대진을 지키다 순절한 다대포 첨사 윤흥신(尹興信)과 군민들의 충절을 추모하기 위하여 영조 41년(1765) 다대포 첨사로 있던 이해문(李海文)이 설치한 제단*이다.

선조 25년(1592) 4월 13일 부산에 상륙한 일본군이 14일 부산진성을 함락시킨 후 다대진을 공격하자 다대첨사 윤흥신은 동생 윤흥제와 함께 관청 군대와 군민들을 이끌고 일본군과 싸우다가 장렬히 전사했다. 임진왜란이 끝난 후에도 다대진의 공적이 세상에 알려지지 않았다가, 영조 37년(1761) 경상감사 조엄(趙曮)이 이 사연에 얽힌 자료를 찾아 조정에 포상을 청하면서 비로소 세상에 알려지게 되었다.

원래 단은 다대진성 안에 있던 것을 1970년 12월 5일 지금의 자리로 옮겼다. 단의 중앙에 있는 비석은 앞면에 ‘첨사윤공흥신순절비(僉使尹公興信殉節碑)’라 쓰여 있고, 뒷면에는 공의 전적이 기록되어 있다. 비석의 양 옆에는 동생 윤흥제와 군민들의 충절을 기리는 ‘의사윤흥제비(義士尹興悌碑)’와 ‘순란사민비(殉亂士民碑)’가 각각 세워져 있다.

1972년 6월 26일 부산광역시 기념물 제9호로 지정되었다.

영문 해설 내용

윤공단은 조선시대 다대진의 첨사였던 윤흥신(?-1592)과 임진왜란 때 그와 함께 순절한 군민들을 기리는 제단이다.

1592년 음력 4월 13일 일본군이 부산을 침략하여 14일 부산진성을 함락시켰고, 바로 이튿날 다대진성을 공격하였다. 윤흥신은 동생 윤흥제와 함께 군대와 군민들을 이끌고 일본군과 싸우다가 장렬히 전사하였다. 윤흥신의 공적은 전쟁이 끝난 이후에도 세상에 잘 알려지지 않았다. 1761년 경상감사 조엄(1719-1777)이 윤흥신의 공적이 자세히 기록된 문헌을 입수하여 조정에 포상을 요청하였고, 1765년 다대진 첨사 이해문(1712-1772)이 윤공단을 설치하였다.

윤공단은 원래 다대진성 안이었던 지금의 다대초등학교 인근에 있었다가, 1970년 지금의 자리로 옮겼다. 제단 중앙에 있는 비석 앞면에는 '첨사 윤흥신의 순절비'라고 쓰여 있고, 뒷면에는 윤흥신의 공적이 기록되어 있다. 비석 왼쪽과 오른쪽에 있는 작은 비석은 각각 임진왜란 때 희생당한 군민들과 윤흥제를 기리는 비석이다.
