해설문

국문

유봉 영당은 윤증(尹拯, 1629-1711)의 영정(影幀)을 모시고 봄·가을로 제사를 올리는 사당이다. 윤증이 죽고 난 후에 그를 따르는 유생들이 강당인 경승재와 함께 영당을 세우고 1744년(영조 20)에 윤증의 영정을 영당에 모셨다. 영당의 이름을 유봉으로 정한 까닭은 이곳의 지명이자 윤증의 호가 유봉이기 때문이다. 윤증의 호는 명재(明齋) 또는 유봉이고 파평인(坡平人)이며 시호(諡號)*는 문성文成이다. 1642년(인조 20)에 금산에서 아버지 윤선거를 비롯하여 유계와 권시, 김집, 송시열 등에게서 배웠다. 윤증은 벼슬에 뜻을 두지 않아 조정에서 여러 차례 벼슬을 내렸으나 나가지 않았고 성리학에 전념하여 특히 예학(禮學)에 밝았다.

유봉 영당은 영당·경승재, 고택 유허지**로 구성되어 있다. 강당인 경승재는 앞면 3칸․옆면 2칸의 익공계*** 팔작지붕 건물이다. 영당은 경승재의 오른쪽에 있는데 앞면 3칸․옆면 2칸의 팔작지붕 건물이며, 영정은 중앙에 모셔져 있다.

영문 해설 내용

이 영당은 조선 후기의 학자인 윤증(1629-1714, 호: 명재, 유봉)의 영정을 모신 사당이다.

윤증은 성리학의 대가인 윤선거(1610-1669)의 아들로, 아버지를 비롯하여 유계(1607-1664), 권시(1604-1672), 김집(1574-1656), 송시열(1607-1689) 등 당대 최고의 학자들에게 수학하였다. 조정에서 여러 차례 벼슬을 내렸으나, 벼슬에 뜻을 두지 않고 학문에 전념하였으며 특히 예학에 밝았다. 40세가 되던 해에는 이곳 마을에 강당을 건립하고 후학을 양성하였다.

1744년 윤증을 따르는 유생들이 강당인 경승재와 함께 영당을 세우고, 윤증의 영정을 모셨다. 윤증이 강학했던 강당은 1940년경에 헐리고 터만 남아 있다.

매년 음력 3월과 9월에 제사를 지낸다.
