해설문

국문

원홍주등육군상무사 단제비는 선배 보부상들을 추모하고 제사를 지내는 비이다. 예로부터 보부상들은 선배 보부상들의 허묘(墟墓)*를 만들고 제를 올렸는데, 1962년에 단제비를 세웠다. 한식날에 단제비에 가장 먼저 제를 올린다.

Altar Stone to the peddlers of Trade Union of the Six Counties

This (group) altar stone was installed here in 1962 to honor the senior members* of the Trade Union of the Six Counties. Before the stone was made, a ceremonial ritual was performed in front of an empty tomb. The ritual is held annually on Cold Food Festival in the beginning** of April.

I wonder if it’s okay to call it sth like an altar stone since it is called 단제비 in Korean

영문 해설 내용

선배 보부상들을 추모하고 제사를 지내기 위해 1962년에 세운 비이다. 이 비를 세우기 전에는 허묘(유해가 없는 묘)를 만들고 제사를 올렸다. 매년 한식날(4월 5일경)에 제사를 지낸다.
