이 우물은 1593년 당시 이순신이 한산도(閑山島) 통제영(統制營) 안에 운주당을 창건하고 1,340일 동안 머물면서 군사들과 함께 사용했던 우물이다. 바다에 가깝지만 짠맛이 전혀 없는 것이 특징이다.
