'''Orijangnim Forest in Jacheon-ri, Yeongcheon'''
Orijangnim Forest was planted by the locals in the 16th century as a buffer against wind and flooding as well as to protect the embankment. The name Orijangnim means “a 5 li long forest”, because the forest stretches for 5 li (around 2 km). Because of its location, it is also called Jacheon Forest.

Due to expansion of the nearby road, part of the forest was cut down, but there are still around 280 trees of more than 12 species left, such as Chinese cork oak and ginkgo. The trees are presumed to be from 200 to 350 years old, measure from 6 to 24 m in height and from 0.36 to 5.10 m in circumference at chest level and their crowns measure from 8 to 28 m in diameter.

The locals believed that if the leaves on the trees grew thick in spring, there would be a good harvest later that year. A ritual is held in the forest on the first full moon of the lunar year, wishing for peace and prosperity of the village.
