해설문

국문

야일당은 조선 시대인 17세기 중엽에 김란이 건립한 정자이다. 야일당 김란은 병자호란의 굴욕을 참지 못하여 세상과 인연을 끊고 동포 마을에 집을 짓고 살았다. ‘야일당’이라는 이름은 산과 들에 숨은 백성이라는 ‘산야일민(山野逸民)’의 뜻이라고 한다.

야일당은 앞면 3칸, 옆면 1칸 반 크기의 기와지붕 건물로 대청과 온돌방이 있다. 본채는 중앙에 안마당, 앞쪽에 ‘一’ 자 모양의 사랑채와 뒤쪽에 ‘ㄷ’ 자 모양의 안채로 구성된 평면 ‘ㅁ’ 자 모양의 기와지붕 집이다. 사랑채에는 사랑방, 사랑마루, 안마당으로 들어가는 중문, 마구간을 두었는데, 근래에 마구간을 방으로 고쳤다. 안채에는 안사랑방, 마루, 안방, 부엌이 있다. 안사랑방과 부엌 앞에는 제사 때 사용하는 빈소방, 새신부가 머무는 새방, 물건과 살림살이를 넣어 두는 곳간과 고방이 있다.

이후 수해로 무너져서 현재 위치로 옮겨 고쳐 지었다고 한다. 이 야일당과 오른쪽에 나란히 있는 야일당보다 조금 늦게 지은 살림집인 본채는 조선 후기의 정자와 살림집의 모습을 알려주는 귀중한 자료이다.

영문 해설 내용

이 정자는 17세기 중엽 김란(호: 야일당)이 세웠다.

김란은 1637년 병자호란 때 조선이 청에 항복하자, 세상과의 인연을 끊고 이 마을에 정자를 짓고 은거하였다. ‘산과 들에 숨은 백성’이라는 뜻의 자신의 호를 따서 정자의 이름을 지었다. 이후 수해로 무너져서 고쳐 지었다고 한다.

정자는 맞배지붕을 올렸으며, 왼쪽에 대청을 두고 가운데와 오른쪽에 온돌방을 두었다.

정자 옆에는 정자보다 조금 늦게 지어진 것으로 추정되는 살림집이 있다. 앞쪽의 사랑채와 뒤쪽의 안채가 안마당을 가운데 두고 ㅁ자형을 이루고 있다.
