해설문

기존 국문

이 정사는 서애 西厓 유성룡 柳成龍 이 부친상을 당하여 낙향한 후, 선조 9년 1576 에 서재로 쓰기 위해 지은 것이다. 정사의 서쪽에 높게 서 있는 연좌루는 부용대를 마주하며 강물을 굽어보기 위해 지은 것으로, 2층 누각에 오르면 유유히 흐르는 강물과 함께 빼어난 경치가 펼쳐진다. ‘원지’는 서쪽의 원지산에 나는 약초이다. 마음을 다스려 정신을 맑게 하는 효능이 있어 서애가 평소 즐겨 쓰던 것으로, 그가 여기에서 정사의 이름을 따왔다고 ‘원지정사기문 遠志精舍記文’에 밝히고 있다.

수정 국문

원지정사는 류성룡(1542~1607)이 30대인 1573년에 부친상을 당하여 낙향한 후 서재로 쓰기 위해 지었다. 관직에서 물러났을 때마다 이곳에 자주 은거하였다고 한다. 정사는 심신을 수양하고 학문을 닦기 위해 짓는 건물이다.

하회마을에서 태어난 류성룡은 조선 중기의 문신이자 학자로서 이름이 높았다. 임진왜란 당시 혼란스런 정국을 잘 이끌었으며, 전쟁의 참상을 기록한 ‘징비록’을 저술하였다.

출입문인 사주문을 들어서면 마당 왼쪽에 정사가 있고, 오른쪽 앞에 누각인 연좌루가 있다. 정사는 마루와 온돌방을 나란히 두었으며 툇마루를 둘렀다. 연좌루 누각에 오르면 부용대를 마주하며 유유히 흐르는 화천과 함께 빼어난 경치가 눈앞에 펼쳐진다.
