해설문
국문
이천동 삼층석탑은 고려시대에 만들어진 것으로 추정된다. 오른쪽에 있는 마애여래입상 뒤편에 흩어져 있던 탑재를 모아 복원해놓은 것이다.
1층의 기단과 3층의 몸돌과 지붕돌로 이루어져 있으며 전체 높이는 3.5m이다. 전체적인 비례가 맞지 않아 원래의 탑재가 아닌 부재가 일부 섞여 있을 것으로 추정된다. 기단의 모서리와 가운데에는 기둥 모양을 새겼다. 몸돌과 지붕돌은 각각 하나의 돌로 구성되어 있고, 세 몸돌 모두 모서리에 기둥 모양을 새겼다. 지붕돌은 밑면에 4단씩의 받침을 두었고 네 귀퉁이에서 살짝 솟아올라 경쾌한 느낌이 든다. 머리장식은 모두 없어졌으나, 3층 지붕돌 윗면에는 머리장식을 고정하기 위해 쇠기둥을 박았던 구멍이 남아 있다.

A pagoda is a symbolic monument enshrining the remains of the Buddha, and while not all pagodas contain Buddha’s true remains, they are nevertheless worshiped as sacred monument that enshrined him.
This three-story stone pagoda in Icheon-dong is presumed to have been built during the Goryeo period (918-1392). It reassembled after its parts were discovered scattered behind the nearby rock-carved standing buddha.

불탑은 부처의 유골을 모신 상징적인 조형물이다. 모든 탑이 진신사리를 모신 것은 아니지만, 부처를 모신 신성한 곳으로 여겨 신앙의 대상이 된다.
