해설문

국문

수곡 고택은 수곡 권보(樹谷 權補)가 후세에 끼친 덕을 추모하기 위하여 그의 후손이 1790년경 세웠다. 권보는 일생을 도학에 전념하면서 검소하게 생활하였다. 사랑채 지붕을 소박하게 맞배지붕*으로 하여 권보의 검소한 정신을 지키고자 하였다.

안채는 4칸인데 전면이 개방된 2칸의 큰 마루와 왼쪽으로 2칸의 안방이 있다. 사랑채는 8칸이다. 4칸은 큰 사랑방이고, 왼쪽의 4칸은 작은 사랑방과 마루방으로 되어 있다. 별당인 일지재(一枝齋)는 학문연구와 후진양성을 위해 지었다.

영문 해설 내용

이 집은 조선시대의 학자인 권보(1709-1778)를 기리기 위해 안동권씨 후손들이 1792년에 창건하였다. 권보는 관직에 나아가지 않고, 고향에서 학문에 전념하면서 부모를 극진히 모셨다.

대문채, 사랑채, 안채, 별당, 사당으로 구성되어 있다. 사랑채에는 화려한 팔작지붕이 아닌 소박한 양식의 맞배지붕을 두어서, 평생 검소하게 생활한 권보의 정신을 지키고자 하였다. 별당은 학문연구와 후진양성을 위해 건립한 것이다.

수곡고택이 위치한 가일마을은 15세기 초 권항이 입향한 이래 안동권씨 집성촌을 형성하였다. 이 집의 인근에는 권보의 아버지 권구(1672-1749)가 살던 병곡종택(경상북도 민속문화재 제138호)이 있다.
