해설문

국문

이 집은 안동지방의 농가로서 기둥을 세우지 않고 판축방식으로 다진 토담으로 모든 벽체를 구성하였다. 목재는 문틀이나 서까래 등 일부만 사용하고 주로 흙을 사용한 토담집이다.

이 집은 외양간, 부엌, 안방, 마루방, 사랑방의 순서로 배열되어 있는 ‘一’자형 집이다. 이러한 방식은 이 지방의 민가에서 흔히 볼 수 있다. 토담집은 우리나라 전역에서 볼 수 있는 초보적인 건축이지만, 두꺼운 흙벽과 초가지붕은 더위와 추위에 효율적으로 대처할 수 있는 장점이 있다.

이 집은 원래 안동군 월곡면 사월리에 있었으나 안동댐 건설로 인하여 현재의 위치로 이건하였다.

영문

This house is constructed of pillar-less earthen walls, with the partial use of wood for door frames and rafters. The thick walls and thatched roof are highly effective for combating cold and hot weather extremes.

This house displays a layout common for private houses in the Andong area, consisting of a stable, a kitchen, a main room, and two additional rooms to the left and right.

Originally, the house was located in a village named Sawoldong in Wolgok-myeon, and it was moved to the current site in 1976 due to the construction of Andong Dam.
