해설문

국문

조선 숙종 때 첨절제사(僉節制使)를 지낸 조치형(趙致亨)이 1676년(숙종 2)에 지었다고 전해진다. 옥천 조씨 절민공파의 종가(宗家)로 대대로 10대가 살아 온 전통가옥이다.

가옥이 위치한 구산마을은 1400년대 중반 정읍현감을 지낸 조지곤이 입향한 옥천조씨의 본터다. 구산리는 본디 그 형국이 거북을 닮아 구산(龜山, 거북뫼)이라 했으나 일제의 행정구역 개편 때 구산(九山)으로 표기해 본뜻이 바뀌었다.

가옥은 안채, 사랑채, 문간채, 곳간, 재실, 아래채, 중문간 등으로 구성되어 있으며, 솟을대문이 있던 곳에는 주춧돌만 남아 있다.

이 집에는 조선시대 교지(敎旨)를 비롯하여, 영지, 전령, 고서들 등과 함께 생활사와 관련된 식기류, 집기류 등이 남아 있다.

영문 해설 내용

옥천조씨 절민공파의 종택이다. 종택이란 한 집안의 종가가 대대로 사는 집이다.

이 집이 위치한 구산마을은 15세기 중반 조지곤이 입향하면서 옥천조씨의 세거지가 되었다. 이 집은 1676년에 조치형(1642-1754)이 지었다고 전해진다.

현재 문간채, 사랑채, 안채, 중문간, 곳간, 재실, 아래채로 구성되어 있다. 조선시대 교지를 비롯한 다양한 고문서와 식기류 등 조선시대 양반가의 생활 모습을 볼 수 있는 유물들을 소장하고 있다.
