해설문
국문
- 1796년(정조 20) 창건
- 1975년 누각 복원
서암문과 서삼치 사이에 있는 치성 위에 군사들이 머물 수 있도록 누각을 지은 시설이다. 화성에는 모두 15곳의 치성이 있는데, 그 중 중요한 5곳의 치성 위에 포루를 만들고 적의 동향을 감시했다. 서포루는 팔달산 정상 가까운 위치에 있어서 서장대 쪽으로 접근하는 적을 감시했다. 적군을 위협하기 위해 누각 삼면에 짐승얼굴을 그린 널빤지 문을 달았다. 누각은 복원했지만 치성은 원형이 잘 남아 있다.
