해설문
국문
남문인 팔달문을 중심으로 동쪽은 남동적대, 남암문, 남공심돈과 남수문까지를, 서쪽은 언덕을 따라 남서적대, 남치, 남포루까지가 남성의 영역이다. 이 구간의 볼거리는 창건 당시 모습을 간직하고 있는 팔달문의 위용과 아홉 개 홍예문으로 이어진 남수문의 장관이다. 1979년에 남성 구간을 대부분을 복원했지만 팔달문에서 남공심돈까지는 시장이 있어 복원하지 못하였다.
영문
The southern section of Hwaseong Fortress is centered around the south gate, Paldalmun, and stretches from the sloping base of Paldalsan Mountain to flat area around Suwoncheon Stream. It includes the Southern Bastion and Southern Artillery Pavilion to the west and the Southern Watergate to the east.
In 1979, the walls in the other sections of the fortress were fully repaired or reconstructed, however, this southern section could only be partially repaired because the area is a dense, urban, commercial district. The Southern Watergate was reconstructed in 2012, and Paldalmun Gate was repaired in 2013.
영문 해설 내용
남성은 화성의 남쪽 성벽 부분으로, 남문인 팔달문을 중심으로 팔달문 기슭에서 수원천 주변의 평탄한 지역을 향해 뻗어있다. 서쪽으로는 남치와 남포루가 있는 곳까지, 동쪽으로는 남수문이 있는 곳까지를 포함한다.
화성 성벽의 대부분이 1979년에 복원되었지만, 남성 지역은 주위에 시장이 형성되어 있어서 부분적인 수리만 이루어졌다. 남수문은 2012년에 복원되었고, 팔달문은 2013년에 보수되었다.
