해설문

국문

이곳은 조선 후기 대사헌·병조판서 등을 역임한 문신이자 학자인 동춘당 송준길(同春堂 宋浚吉)의 묘이다. 송준길은 어려서 이이(李珥)를 사숙했고, 20세에 사계 김장생(沙溪 金長生)의 문하생이 되었다. 그는 성리학자로 예학에 밝았으며 문장과 글씨에도 뛰어났다. 영조 32년(1756) 공자의 사당인 문묘(文廟; 대성전)에 제향되었다.

묘소는 1672년 연기(燕岐)의 죽안리에 조성되었다가 이후 회덕 흥농리와 공주의 유구 유곡으로 옮겨졌으며, 조선 숙종 26년(1700) 진령 사점동(현재 서구 원정동)에 부인 진주 정씨(晉州鄭氏)와 합장하였다. 묘소에는 묘비, 묘표, 상석, 향로석, 문인석 등의 석물이 있으며, 비문은 외손인 민진후(閔鎭厚)가 지었고, 증손인 송요좌(宋堯佐)가 썼다. 문인석은 조선 전기 문관의 공식 행사 복장인 복두공복(幞頭公服)을 하고 있고, 향로석은 두 마리의 이무기가 향로를 등에 지고 있는 형태이다. 이들 석물은 묘가 조성되었던 17세기 양식을 보여 준다.

This is the tomb of the civil official and prominent scholar Song Jun-gil (1606-1672) and his wife Lady Jin, who are interred together in a single tomb mound. In front of this tomb mound is another tomb mound belonging their eldest son Song Gwang-sik (1625-1664).

조선시대 문신이자 학자인 송준길(1606-1672)과 부인 진주정씨의 합장묘이다.

송준길은 당시 최고의 학자인 김장생(1548-1631) 등에게서 학문을 배웠으며, 조선 후기 정치계와 사상계를 대표하는 학자가 되었다. 그는 특히 예학에 밝았고 문장과 글씨에 뛰어났다.

송준기의 묘는 원래 연기(지금의 세종특별자치시 지역)에 조성되었다가, 세 차례 이장된 뒤 1700년에 현재 위치에 자리잡았다. 무덤 주변에는 묘비, 묘표, 상석, 향로석, 한 쌍의 문인석이 있다. 묘비는 1711년에 세운 것으로, 비문은 외손자인 민진후(1659-1720)가 짓고 증손자인 송요좌(1678-1723)가 글씨를 썼다.

앞쪽에 있는 묘는 맏아들 송광식(1625-1664)의 것이다.
