해설문

국문

선원전은 1901년 정면 9칸, 측면 4칸, 전체 36칸으로 건립되었으나, 발굴조사 시 정면 6칸, 측면 4칸의 기초와 기단부, 3개소의 계단을 비롯한 일부 부속건물만 확인되었다.

흥덕전은 선원전이 이건된 것으로 흥덕전, 흥복전 유구도 확인되어 선원전 권역 복원공사의 중요한 자료로 활용되고 있다.

  • 선원전(璿源殿) 왕들의 어진을 모시는 곳
  • 흥덕전(興德殿) 국상 때 상여가 나갈 때까지 관을 모시던 빈전으로 사용
  • 흥복전(興福殿) 국장 뒤 삼 년 동안 신위를 모시는 혼전으로 사용
  • 어재실과 숙경재(御齋室, 肅敬齋) 국상 시 임금이 임시로 머물던 처소
  • 내외소주방과 생물방(內外燒廚房, 生物房) 국상 시 음식을 차리고, 제조하던 곳

Current Status of Archaeological Excavation of Seonwonjeon Hall and Premises

Seonwonjeon Hall was established in 1901. An excavation conducted in 2021-2022 confirmed the foundation and stone platform of the hall*, three sets of stairs, and sites of other auxiliary buildings. Structural remains of Heungdeokjeon and Heungbokjeon Halls located nearby were also confirmed providing valuable information for the restoration.

  • Seonwonjeon Hall: the hall where portraits of kings were enshrined.
  • Heungdeokjeon Hall: the hall where the royal family’s coffins were brought in for ceremonial purposes during the state funerals.
  • Heungbokjeon Hall: the hall where spirit tablets of the royal family were kept during the required mourning period.
  • Eojaesil Hall and Sukgyeongjae Ritual House: the place where a king temporarily stayed while preparing for the ancestral ritual**

영문 해설 내용

선원전은 1901년 정면 9칸, 측면 4칸의 전각으로 건립되었다. 2021-2022년에 실시된 발굴조사를 통해 정면 6칸, 측면 4칸의 기초와 기단부, 계단 3개소를 비롯한 일부 부속건물이 확인되었다. 또한 선원전 영역에 있던 흥덕전, 흥복전을 비롯한 여러 부속 건물들의 유구도 확인되어, 선원전 권역 복원공사의 중요한 자료로 활용되고 있다.
