해설문

국문

산청 망추정은 조선전기 문신인 송월당 박호원이 어머니의 3년상을 치르기 위해 지은 작은 건물이다. 1560년경에 처음 지어진 것으로 추정되며, 이후 여러 차례 고쳐지으며 밀양 박씨 문중의 제사를 지내는 재실로 사용하였다. ‘망추정’은 자식이 부모를 그리워하고 생각한다는 뜻이 담겨있다.

망추정은 앞면 6칸, 옆면 3칸 규모로, 옆에서 보았을 때 여덟 팔(八)자인 팔작지붕 건물이다. 대청마루를 중심으로 양 옆으로 온돌방이 위치하며, 왼쪽 가장 끝 방을 제외하고 모든 방 앞으로 좁은 마루가 설치되어 있다. 대문은 앞면 3칸, 옆면 1칸의 건물로 문 위에는 ‘경의문’이라고 적힌 나무판이 걸려있으며, 망추정의 오른쪽에는 관리사가 있다.

영문

Mangchujeong Ritual House, Sancheong

This building* is presumed to have been built around 1560 by Bak Ho-won (1527-1584), a civil official of the Joseon period (1392-1910). When his mother, Lady Hwang, died, he arranged her tomb in Sawol-ri, where the family cemetery is, and built this house to live in it during the required mourning period. Since then, the building underwent several repairs and came to be used by Miryang Bak** clan as a ritual house for performing ancestral rituals. The name Mangchujeong means “a place where a son/a child mourns*** his parent/parents.”

The house consists of a gate quarters, a ritual house****, and a custodian’s quarters. The ritual house (building) consists of a wooden-floored hall in the middle, with two underfloor-heated rooms to its left and one to the right. Except for the room to the far left, all rooms feature a narrow wooden veranda in the front, and the wooden-floored hall additionally has a narrow wooden veranda and a small room/closet in the back. The gate quarters, which bares the name Gyeonguimun*****, features rooms on either side used as storage.

영문 해설 내용

망추정은 조선시대의 문신인 박호원(1527-1584)이 1560년경에 지은 것으로 추정된다. 어머니 황씨가 돌아가신 후 가문의 묘소가 있는 사월리에 어머니의 묘를 마련하고, 삼년상을 치르는 동안 기거하기 위해 지은 건물이다. 이후 여러 차례 고쳐지어졌으며, 밀양박씨 문중의 제사를 지내는 재실로 사용되었다. 망추정이라는 이름은 자식이 부모를 그리워하고 생각하는 곳이라는 뜻이 담겨있다.

망추정은 대문채, 본채(ritual house), 관리사로 구성되어 있다. 본채는 왼쪽에서부터 온돌방 2개, 대청, 온돌방 1개로 이루어져 있다. 있다. 가장 왼쪽의 온돌방을 제외하고, 모든 방 앞에 툇마루가 설치되어 있고, 대청 뒤쪽에는 툇마루와 반침을 두었다. 대문채는 경의문이라고 불리며, 문 양옆의 방은 창고로 사용되고 있다.
