해설문
국문
사천 금성리 토성지는 금성리 뒷산의 지형을 이용하여 정상 부분을 흙으로 둘러쌓은 성터이다. 산성의 둘레는 약 2000m이고 넓이는 약 26,000㎡가 넘었으나 지금은 둘레 100m, 너비 1.5m 정도의 흔적만 남아 있을 뿐이다.
토성의 주변에서는 ‘금동으로 만든 말(金銅製馬像)’ 1점, ‘쇠로 만든 큰 칼(鐵製長劍)’ 1점을 비롯하여 기와, 토기 조각 등 많은 유물이 나왔다. 특히 ‘삼정(三井)’이라는 문자가 새겨진 신라 시대의 기와가 나왔기에, 이 성을 삼국시대에 쌓은 것으로 추정한다.
이곳과 가까운 곳에 삼국시대의 돌덧널무덤*이 모여 있는 금성리 고분군이 있어 삼국시대와 이 토성 사이에 밀접한 관계에 있는 것으로 보인다.
현재 성터는 대부분 과수원으로 개간되었다.

This fortification originally measured about 2 km in perimeter. Only 100 m of the fortification's wall, which is 1.5 m in width, remains. Currently, most of the area is occupied by orchards.
Historical artifacts found in the area include a gilt bronze horse sculpture, an iron knife, shards of roof tiles, and fragments of undecorated pottery.
영문 해설 내용
삼국시대에 축조되었던 것으로 추정되는 토성이다.
성의 둘레는 약 2km이고 넓이는 약 26,000㎡가 넘었으나, 지금은 둘레 100m, 너비 1.5m 정도의 흔적만 남아 있을 뿐이다. 현재 성터는 대부분 과수원으로 개간되었다.
토성의 주변에서는 금동으로 만든 말 1점, 쇠로 만든 큰 칼 1점을 비롯하여 기와 조각, 민무늬토기 조각 등 많은 유물이 나왔다. 글자가 새겨진 신라시대의 기와도 출토되었다.
