The school was first founded as a three-year elementary school in a thatched-roof building in Jwacheon-dong. In 1905, it was rebuilt nearby in its current location as a brick building. In 1909, it obtained authorization as a private school and a three-year advanced course was added. In 1925, this advanced course was relocated to Bokcheon-dong, Dongnae-gu District, where it became Dongnae Ilsin Girl’s School. In 1951, it was separated into the current Dongnae Girl’s Middle School and Dongnae Girl’s High School.

After the school was relocated to Bokcheon-dong, the original building in Jwacheon-dong was used as a training institute for missionaries of the Presbyterian Church of Korea. It was originally a one-story building, and the second story was added in 1931. The staircase at the front of the building and the balustrades of the second floor are typical of Western-style buildings from the early 20th century. Unlike most Western-style buildings from the early 20th century remaining in the Busan area, which were built by the Japanese during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945), this building is especially valued as it was established by Western Catholic missionaries prior to the colonial period. The school also has great historic value as the site of the first demonstration in Busan for independence against colonial rule during the 1919 March First Independence Movement.
