해설문

국문

보령 청소역은 장항선 중에 가장 오래된 기차역 건물이다.

보령 청소역은 일제강점기 광천에서 남포까지 장항선(당시 충남선)을 연장 완공하면서 1929년 12월 1일 인근 마을의 이름을 따서 진죽역이라는 이름의 간이역으로 영업을 시작하였고 1958년 보통역으로 승격되었다. 1961년에 지금의 기차역 건물이 세워졌고, 1988년에 청소역으로 이름을 바꾸었다.

대합실 출입구를 박공지붕으로 꾸며 정면성을 강조하였고, 철로쪽 대합실 출입구에 햇빛 가리개를 달았다. 광복 이후의 기차역 건축 양식을 잘 보여줄 뿐만 아니라 장항선의 가장 오래된 기차역이라는 역사적 가치가 있다.

영문

Cheongso Station, Boryeong

Cheongso Station began operation in December 1929. Its building dates to 1961 and is the oldest remaining station building along the Janghang Railway Line.

The Janghang Line was first opened as the Chungnam Line in 1922 during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945). When it first opened, it initially stretched only from Cheonan to Onyang (in Asan), but was gradually extended southward across the rest of Chungcheongnam-do Province. In 1955, it was renamed the Janghang Line after Janghang Station in Seocheon, which was the railway line's terminus at the time. The Janghang Line was later extended further to Iksan in Jeollabuk-do Province.

Cheongso Station was originally named Jinjuk Station after a nearby village. In 1958, it was promoted from the status of an affiliated manned station to a normal station. Three years later, the current station building was newly constructed. In 1988, it was given its current name, which comes from the township, Cheongso-myeon, where it is located.

Cheongso Station displays the typical architectural style of train stations built in the 20th century. The brick building, painted white overall, features a gable roof covered with tiles. The station's entrance area is oriented perpendicularly to the rest of the building and has its own gable roof for emphasis. In the rear of the building, the roof is extended to create an overhang which provides an outdoor waiting area that is protected against the sun and rain.

영문 해설 내용

청소역은 1929년 운영을 시작한 기차역으로, 충청남도 천안과 전라북도 익산을 연결하는 장항선에서 가장 오래된 기차역 건물이다.

장항선은 일제강점기인 1922년 천안과 온양 사이의 충남선으로 처음 개통되었고, 이후 구간을 확장한 뒤 1955년 장항선으로 개칭되었다. 청소역은 1929년 12월 인근 마을의 이름을 따서 진죽역이라는 이름의 간이역으로 영업을 시작하였고, 1958년 보통역으로 승격되었다. 1961년에 지금의 벽돌조 건물이 세워졌고, 1988년 역이 위치한 청소면의 이름을 따서 이름을 바꾸었다.
