해설문

국문

만취당은 임진왜란 때 의병장으로 큰 공을 세운 김개국이 선조 20년(1587)에 지은 정자이다. 건물 서쪽에 있는 수백 그루의 소나무들이 사시사철 푸름을 잃지 않는 것을 보고 이를 본보기 삼아 당호를 만취당이라 하고 아호로도 삼았다.

앞면 3칸, 옆면 2칸 규모의 팔작지붕 집으로 왼쪽은 마루방 4통간, 오른쪽은 온돌방 2통간이 배치되었으며, 방 주변에는 폭이 좁은 쪽마루를 돌렸다. 온돌방 뒷면에는 반침* 흔적이 남아 있고, 마루방 오른쪽 칸 뒤에는 반침이 설치되어 있다. 건물 뒤편에는 만취당의 위패를 모신 사당이 세워져 있다.

건립연대가 확실하고 중수 내용까지 밝혀져 있으며, 상부구조와 창호구성, 치목수법 등에서 건축연대와 중수시기에 부합하는 부분들이 잘 보존되고 있다. 조선 후기 정자 구조를 잘 보여주는 귀중한 자료이다.

This pavilion was built by Gim Gae-guk (1548-1603), a civil official of the Joseon period (1392-1910).

영문 해설 내용

이 정자는 조선시대의 문신 김개국(1548-1603)이 1587년에 세웠다.

김개국은 1591년 과거에 급제해 여러 벼슬을 지냈으며, 지방관으로 부임할 때마다 선정을 베풀어 칭송을 받았다고 한다. 임진왜란이 일어났을 때에는 의병장으로 활약하기도 했다. 정자의 이름은 ‘겨울에도 변하지 않는 초목의 푸른빛’이라는 뜻이다. 김개국은 건물 서쪽에 있는 수백 그루의 소나무들이 사시사철 푸름을 잃지 않는 것을 보고, 이를 본보기 삼아 정자의 이름을 지었고 자신의 호로 삼았다.

왼편에는 마루방을 두고 오른편에는 온돌방을 배치하였으며, 사면에 폭이 좁은 쪽마루를 깔았다. 마루방 뒤쪽에는 반침이 설치되어 있다.

정자 뒤쪽에는 내삼문과 담장을 세워 별도의 영역을 만들고, 김개국의 위패를 모신 사당을 두었다.
