It had a great influence on Korean Buddhism since it was introduced to Korea during the three kingdoms period (57 BCE-668 CE). The Avatamsaka Sutra is Buddha’s teaching to his disciples just after his enlightenment on how to cultivate (practice) the mind to become a Buddha. This copy of Avatamsaka Sutra is presumed to have been woodblock printed on paper during the Goryeo period (918-1392) sometime between the 11th and 12th centuries.  It is not known where it was printed. Except for the cover, the edges of its 22 pages are glued together to form a scroll, and the last page is attached to a wooden rod so that it can be rolled up. The overall condition of the scroll is good, despite minor damage and some blurred ink spots.
