The walls that surround Wontongbojeon Hall were built by King Sejo’s (r. 1455-1468) order in 1466 during a reconstruction of the temple. Most of the original wall did not survive to this day. The wall was newly built and partially renovated in 2005 following the forest fire that devastated the temple.
