Nahanjeon Hall

Nahanjeon is a Buddhist worship hall which enshrines statues of Sakyamuni Buddha and arhats, the perfected disciples of the Buddha. He passed down his teachings to them, and so they are considered saint men worthy of reverence and offerings/worship.

Nahanjeon Hall of the Geumsansa Temple was built in the spot, where now stands Jeongmyeolbogung Hall. It was moved to its current location in 1996*. / Nahanjeon Hall of the Geumsansa Temple was moved from its original location to its current one in1996 to make place for the construction of the Jeongmyeolbogung Hall, which took its place.(?)

Inside the hall is enshrined a Buddha triad which consists of Sakyamuni Buddha at the center, Dipankara (Bodhisattva of the Past) to his left, and Maitreya (Bodhisattva of the Future) to his right, which altogether represent the past, present, and future Buddha. To the left and right of Buddha triad, respectively, stand the statues of Ananda and Maha Kasyapa, two of Buddha’s best disciples, and 16 statues of arhats. Behind the altar, arranged in a terraced platform are smaller statues of 500 arhats.
