해설문
국문
불상을 올려놓는 연꽃 모양의 받침대이다. 본래의 위치는 알 수 없으나 통일신라시대의 화려한 양식을 띄고 있어서 신라와 고려 초기 사이에 제작된 좌대로 추정된다. 마치 여러 개의 돌로 구성된 것처럼 보이지만, 하나의 화강암으로 만들어졌다. 상, 중, 하단 3단으로써 하단석은 10각형으로 면마다 세밀한 안상을 조각하였다. 중단석은 6각으로 하단석처럼 안상을 새기고, 그 안에 꽃문양을 새겨놓았다. 상대석에는 연꽃잎이 사방을 에워싸고 있으며, 윗면 중앙의 네모난 구멍 두 곳에 석조불상을 세웠던 연화좌대로 추정된다. 그 규모나 조형미로 미루어 보아 우리나라에서 가장 우수한 작품으로 평가된다.

This lotus-shaped pedestal was made from one granite stone. It was built to support a statue of the Buddha. It is presumed to have been made sometime between the late period of Unified Silla (668-935) and the early period of the Goryeo dynasty (918-1392).

영문 해설 내용
불상을 올려놓는 받침대로, 하나의 화강암을 연꽃 모양으로 조각해서 만들었다. 통일신라 말에서 고려 초기 사이에 제작된 것으로 추정된다.
10각형의 하단, 6각형의 중단, 원형의 상단으로 구성되어 있으며, 상단 윗면 중앙에는 불상을 세우기 위해 뚫은 것으로 추정되는 네모난 구멍 두 개가 있다.
둘레가 약 10m나 될 정도로 규모가 크고 여러 문양이 정교하게 조각된 우수한 작품이다.
