However, the lecture hall was demolished and the shrine was renovated in 1868, when most shrines and Confucian academies were shut down by a nationwide decree. The other pavilion to the left is called Jiakjeong, which was built in 1624 by Jo Dong-do. The current building was renovated in 1962.

해설문

국문

금대정사는 조선 영조(英祖) 12년(1736)에 함안 조씨의 16대 후손으로 증(贈) 형조판서인 망운정(望雲亭) 조지(趙址)의 맏아들인 신당(神堂) 조수도(趙守道)와 막내아들 조동도(趙東道), 그리고 조수도의 아들 조함수(趙咸遂)와 조동도의 아들 조함신(趙咸新)을 위해서 지은 재실이다.

금대정사의 동편에는 입향조(入鄕祖)*인 망운정 조지와 그의 막내아들인 조동도를 위한 묘우(廟宇)**와 유생들이 학문을 닦고 연구하던 강당이 있었다. 그러나 고종 5년(1868)에 내려졌던 서원 철폐령으로 인해 모두 헐어서 치워버렸는데 묘우만 남게 되었다. 지금 있는 우모정(禹摹亭)은 이 묘우의 현판을 바꾼 것이다.

금대정사의 서편에 있는 지악정(芝嶽亭)은 재용감부정*** 지악(芝嶽) 조동도가 인조(仁祖) 2년(1624)에 세웠으나 그 후 너무 낡아서 1962년에 현재와 같이 넓혀서 고쳐지었다.

  • 묘우(廟宇): 신위(神位)를 모신 집.
  • 재용감부정(濟用監副正): 제용감(조선 시대에, 각종 직물 따위를 진상하고 하사하는 일이나 채색이나 염색, 직조하는 일 따위를 맡아보던 관아)의 벼슬 이름.

영문 해설 내용

이 재실은 조수도, 조동도, 조함수, 조함신의 제사를 지내기 위해 1736년에 건립되었다.

조수도는 함안조씨 청송 입향조인 조지의 다섯 아들 중 맏이이다. 그는 평생을 학문에 전념하였다. 막내인 조동도는 임진왜란 때 청송 지역에서 의병을 일으켰다.

금대정사는 대문채, 동서재, 정사로 이루어져 있고 정사 양옆에 정자가 하나씩 있다. 오른쪽의 정자는 우모정으로, 원래 조지와 조동도를 모신 사당과 지방 유생들을 위한 강당으로 지어졌다. 그러나 1868년 서원철폐령으로 인해 강당은 헐어지고 사당은 개조되었다. 왼쪽의 정자는 지악정으로, 조동도가 1624년에 지었으며, 현재의 건물은 1962년에 고쳐 지었다.
