해설문

국문

근수루는 조선 후기 장수지역에 사는 여러 성씨들이 자녀들의 교육을 위해 공동으로 설립한 교육시설이다. 1658년(효종 9) 서당으로 출발하여, 여러 차례 수리와 증축이 이루어졌다. 1979년에 지금의 자리로 옮기면서 건물도 작아졌다. 조선 후기 계조직과 건축 활동, 근대기 이후 학교의 설립과 변화의 역사를 잘 간직하고 있다.

영문

Geunsuru was an education institution jointly established by several local clans in the Jangsu area during the late Joseon period. Since its first construction in 1658, its buildings underwent several repairs and expansions, until the school was shut down by the Japanese during the colonial period (1910-1945). The buildings were used by a local public school established in 1936, and only one building survived to be relocated to the current site in 1979.
