The buddha and his halo are carved out of a single piece of rock. The statue has curly hair and a large protuberance on the top of the head, which is a symbol of the Buddha’s wisdom. The buddha has a plump round face, but due to the severe erosion, the rest of his facial features are hardly visible. The three creases on the neck represent the “three destinies” of afflictions, actions, and suffering. The robe is hanging down from his shoulders creating U-shaped creases that completely cover his knees. His right hand is resting below his knee with its fingers pointing downwards, while in his left hand he is holding a small wish-fulfilling jewel by his belly with the palm facing upwards. The original shape and decoration of the halo are completely lost due to the heavily damaged condition.
