The upper section of the painting depicts three bodhisattvas seated on lotus pedestals, each with a pair of attendant bodhisattvas and the retinue located to their left and right. These three bodhisattvas each control the heavenly world, the earthly world, and the underworld(?). The Heavenly Bodhisattva is depicted in the center, with the Earthly Bodhisattva(Dharaṇimdhara) and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva to his left and right, respectively. This painting is unique in that the names of all the figures in the retinue are written underneath each bodhisattva which provides an important data for the research in Buddhist iconography.
