해설문

이곳은 황룡사의 과거와 현재, 미래의 모습을 체험하는 역사체험의 장으로 활용하기 위하여 건립되었다. 1층은 전통건축의 기단을 형상화하고, 2층은 전통한옥의 요소와 동(銅) 기와 지붕으로 천년고도 경주의 모습을 잘 보여주고 있다. 주요시설은 황룡사 구층목탑 1/10모형, 3D 영상실, 신라왕경 파노라마, 야외 전망대 등이다.

목탑전시실은 야간 경관조명을 설치하여 내·외부에서 관람할 수 있으며, 약 8m 높이의 목탑모형으로 황룡사의 상징성을 표현한다. 3D 영상은 황룡사의 창건부터 고려시대 몽골의 침략으로 황룡사가 소실되기까지, 진흥왕 14년(553)부터 고려 고종 25년(1238)까지 686년간의 역사를 생동감 있게 느낄 수 있도록 제작되었다. 또한, 출토유물 복제품, 발굴 조사 내용, 연구 성과 등을 진열하여 경주 황룡사지의 이해를 돕고 있다.

Hwangnyongsa Temple History and Culture Center

This center was open in 2016 to share the accomplishments of the research and excavations of Hwangnyonsa Temple with the public.

Some of the main attractions in the center include a 3D video room, an exhibition hall, and an outdoor observation platform. In the 3D video room, visitors are offered to watch a video about the history of the temple from its foundation to the destruction during the Mongol invasions. The exhibition hall displays copies of the excavated artifacts and the observation platform provides a nice view of the temple site.

A miniature reproduction of the temple’s wooden pagoda that measures about 8 m in height (1/10 ratio)* is installed on the first floor. It can also be seen from outside through the glass walls of the center.

영문 해설 내용

황룡사 역사문화관은 황룡사지에 대한 연구 및 발굴조사 성과를 공유하기 위해 2016년에 개관하였다.

주요시설로는 3D 영상실, 유물전시실, 야외 전망대 등이 있다. 3D 영상실에서는 황룡사의 창건부터 고려시대 몽골의 침략으로 황룡사가 소실되기까지의 역사를 담은 영상을 볼 수 있다. 유물전시실에는 황룡사지에서 출토된 유물을 복제하여 전시하였고, 2층의 야외전망대에 오르면 황룡사지 전체를 조망할 수 있다.

1층에는 황룡사 9층 목탑을 1/10 크기인 약 8m 높이로 재현한 모형 탑이 전시되어 있다. 목탑전시실은 벽이 통유리로 되어 있어 외부에서도 관람할 수 있다.
