Former Seogyeongsa Temple, Gyeongju

This Japanese-style Buddhist temple building was built around 1932 during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945) for the purpose of promulgating Japan's True Pure Land Buddhism (Jodo Shinshu).

During the colonial period, it is said that the temple's members were primarily Japanese people living in the Gyeongju area. After 1945, the building was used as an office space by various institutions, such as the center for agricultural technology, the local jail, and the Marine Corps Veterans' Association.

As the building was constructed in the traditional Japanese style, it features a larger roof, simpler window lattices, and more barren, monochrome colors than traditional Korean Buddhist temple buildings.
