해설문
국문
거북등대는 한산만의 입구에 위치하고 있다. 이순신이 세계 최초로 만든 거북선을 기념하고 한산만으로 들어오는 배들이 항로를 찾을 수 있도록 하기 위해 자연 암초 위에 이 거북등대를 세웠다.
거북선은 지붕 위에 칼과 송곳을 꽂아 적이 접근할 수 없도록 만들었고 앞머리는 용처럼 만들어 대포를 발사하였다. 또 양옆으로 각 6문의 총포를 장착하여 사방으로 총을 쏘기에 적합한 군함이었다. 조선 수군은 항상 거북선을 앞세워 여러 전투에서 승리했다고 전해져 내려온다.

영문 해설 내용
거북등대는 1963년 한산만의 입구 바다 암초 위에 세워졌다. 이순신이 1592년 세계 최초로 만든 거북선을 기념하고 한산만으로 들어오는 배들이 항로를 찾을 수 있도록 하기 위해 세웠다.
거북선은 그 모양이 거북같이 생겼다고 해서 붙은 이름이다. 아래층에서는 노를 젓고, 위층에서는 화포로 적을 공격하였다. 거북선의 맨 윗부분은 판자로 덮고 칼과 송곳을 꽂아 적이 접근할 수 없도록 만들었고, 앞머리는 용처럼 만들어 대포를 발사하였다. 조선 수군은 항상 거북선을 앞세워 여러 전투에서 승리했다고 전해진다.
