강화 참성단 소사나무는 규모와 아름다움에서 우리나라 소사나무를 대표하며 문화재적 가치를 인정받아 2008년 9월 16일 천연기념물로 지정되었다. 소사나무는 한국 특산종이며 양지를 좋아하고 추위 및 건조한 곳에서도 잘 자라 예로부터 사랑을 받아온 대표적인 전통나무이다.
