해설문
국문
강화읍의 중심부를 흐르는 동락천 위에 설치하였던 수문이다. 조선 숙종 37년(1711) 강화산성의 내성을 쌓을 때 처음 설치하였다.
1900년 갑곶나루터의 통로로 사용하기 위하여 개천 어구로 옮겼다가 1977년 하수문(下水門) 자리로 옮겼으며, 1993년에 원래 상수문(上水門) 자리인 지금의 위치로 옮겨 복원하였던 것을 2015년 보수공사를 거쳐 정비하였다. 길이 18.2m, 높이 2.7m, 폭 4.7m이다. 무지개 모양의 수문이 3개이며 화강암을 다듬어 쌓았다.
영문
Stone Watergate, Ganghwa
This granite watergate was constructed over Dongnakcheon Stream flowing the central part of the Ganghwa-eup area. It was first built in 1711 with the construction of the Inner Wall of Ganghwa Fortress. After being relocated several times, it was reconstructed and moved to the current location in 1993 and was repaired in 2015. It has three arched gates, and the entire structure measures 18.2 m in length, 2.7 m in height, and 4.7 m in width.
