해설문
국문
해남 용정사(海南 龍井祠)는 임진왜란 때 충무공 이순신(李舜臣)을 도와 전공을 세운 유형(柳珩), 이억기(李億祺), 이유길(李有吉), 이계년(李桂年) 등 다섯 충신의 공적을 기리기 위해 건립된 사우이다.
1712년 처음 건립 당시에는 충무공 이순신을 모시며 ‘충무사’로 불렸고, 이후 충경공 유형(1770), 의민공 이억기(1796), 충의공 이유길과 참의공 이계년(1829)을 차례로 배향하면서 ‘오충사’라 불리게 되었다. 일제강점기와 근현대를 거치며 훼철과 중건을 반복하였고, 광복 이후 현재의 이름인 ‘용정사’로 불리고 있다.
사우 내에는 오충신공적비, 비각, 강당, 삼문 등이 있으며, 건물들은 20세기 초부터 순차적으로 중건되었다. 강당에는 1927년에 작성된 「오충사중건기」가 보관되어 있다.

Yongjeongsa Shrine in Haenam-eup
Yongjeongsa Shrine was founded in 1712 to honor the renowned admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545-1598), known for his military achievements during the Japanese invasions of 1592-1598. Four men who greatly contributed to Admiral Yi’s achievements also came to be honored at the shrine, namely Yu Hyeong (1566-1615), Yi Eok-gi (1561-1597), Yi Yu-gil (?-?), and Yi Gye-nyeon (1541-1593). Although the shrine was shut down by a nationwide decree in 1868, the five loyal subjects continued to be honored at this site through the installation of a commemorative stele in 1894 and the construction of a ritual altar in 1901. More buildings were constructed in the early 20th century.
Today, the complex consists of a main gate, a lecture hall, an inner gate, and a stele pavilion. The stele pavilion features a plaque bearing a former name of the shrine, Ochungsa (“Shrine of the Five Loyal Subjects”). Kept inside the lecture hall is a record of the shrine’s reconstruction, which was compiled in 1927.
영문 해설 내용
용정사는 임진왜란 때의 명장 이순신(1545-1598)을 기리기 위해 1712년에 세워졌다. 이순신을 도와 전공을 세운 유형(1566-1615), 이억기(1561-1597), 이유길, 이계년(1541-1593)도 이곳에 함께 모셨다. 용정사는 1868년 서원철폐령에 따라 훼철되었으나, 1894년 사당이 있던 자리에 다섯 충신을 기리는 비석이 세워졌고, 1901년에는 제단이 설치되었다. 20세기 초 다른 건물들도 추가로 지어졌다.
현재 경내에는 정문, 강당, 내삼문, 비석을 모신 비각이 있다. 비각에는 용정사의 이전 이름인 오충사가 쓰인 현판이 걸려 있는데, 이는 “다섯 충신을 모신 사당”이라는 뜻이다. 강당에는 1927년에 작성된 「오충사중건기」가 보관되어 있다.
