해남 씻김굿은 망자의 넋을 위로하고 저승으로 인도하기 위해 전라남도 해남 지역에서 전승되어 온 전통 굿입니다.

굿의 구성은 전반부(안당–선부리–오구굿–제석굿–손님굿), 중반부(넋올리기–고풀이–씻김–길닦음), 후반부(퇴송)로 이루어지며, 특히 오구굿이 전반부에 포함되는 점이 해남 씻김굿만의 뚜렷한 특징입니다. 선부리에서 성주풀이와 액막이 절차가 함께 진행되는 점도 인접 지역과의 차이를 보여줍니다.

해남 씻김굿 보유자는 9대째 뛰어난 예술적 전통성을 이어온 예인으로, 굿음악 고유의 문법과 판소리 등의 예술적 요소를 조화롭게 담아내며 해남 씻김굿을 창조적으로 계승·발전시켜 오고 있습니다.

Haenam Ssitgimgut (Purification Ritual of Haenam)

A purification ritual is a traditional shamanistic ritual passed down in the Jeollanam-do region to honor those who have passed and lead them into the realm of the dead. Its name in Korean, ssitgimgut (literally "washing ritual"), emphasizes the meaning of cleansing the souls of the deceased.

The Purification Ritual of Haenam comprises three main parts: calling and honoring various spirits (such as guardian and ancestral spirits, as well as the soul of the deceased), appeasing and cleansing the soul of the deceased, and sending off the spirts. Having been passed down for nine generations, this outstanding artistic tradition is preserved today by master shaman Lee Su-ja, who learned how to perform the ritual from her parents. By incorporating traditional artistic elements such as epic chants (pansori), Master Lee has also sought creative ways to further advance the Purification Ritual of Haenam.

영문 해설 내용

씻김굿은 망자의 넋을 위로하고 저승으로 인도하기 위해 전라남도 지역에서 전승되어 온 전통 무속 의례이다. 죽은 이의 영혼을 씻어준다는 의미를 강조하여 씻김굿이라고 부른다.

해남 지역 씻김굿은 가택신과 조상신을 비롯한 다양한 신을 불러 모시는 과정, 죽은 이의 영혼을 달래고 씻어서 저승으로 천도하는 과정, 신과 망자를 배송하며 굿을 맺는 과정으로 구성된다.

해남 씻김굿 보유자인 이수자씨는 9대째 무업을 이어오며 뛰어난 예술적 전통성을 지켜왔다. 부모로부터 씻김굿을 사사 받았으며, 판소리와 같은 전통 예술 요소를 수용하며 해남 씻김굿을 창조적으로 계승 발전 시키고 있다.
