감찰댁은 조선 후기에 지어진 목조 주택이다. 택호*의 유래를 알 수 없지만, 아마도 옛 주인의 관직에서 따온 것으로 보인다.

안채의 중앙에 있는 앞면 3칸 옆면 2칸의 6칸 대청을 중심으로 동쪽에는 방을, 서쪽에는 마루방을 두었고, 아래쪽으로 안방에 이어 부엌과 작은방을 배치하였다.

안채의 동쪽 뒤편에는 가묘(家廟)가 있는데 앞면 1칸, 옆면 1칸 반의 홑처마 맞배지붕이며 옆면이 긴 형태로 되어 있다. 안채의 동쪽에는 대나무 숲이 있고, 그 앞으로 정원과 정자가 있으며 작은 연못이 있다.

사랑채와 문간채는 오래전에 훼손된 것을 옛 문헌 등을 참고하여 최근에 복원하였다.

Gamchaldaek House

Gamchaldaek House was built in the late period of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910). The name Gamchaldaek means “House of the Inspector,” referring to a position at the Office of the Inspector-General. It is thus presumed that this position was held by someone who once lived in this house.

The house consists of a gate quarters, a men’s quarters, a women’s quarters, and an ancestral shrine. The gate quarters and men’s quarters were recently built anew after the original buildings had fallen into disrepair.

The women’s quarters consists of a wooden-floored hall in the center, with a wooden-floored room on the left, and a main underfloor-heated room, kitchen, and small underfloor-heated room on the right. To the right of the women’s and men’s quarters is a garden with a small pond that is enclosed at the rear with a bamboo grove.

영문 해설 내용

감찰댁은 조선 후기에 지어졌다. 감찰은 조선시대 사헌부의 관직 중 하나이며, 감찰댁이라는 이름은 이 집에 살던 인물이 감찰을 지낸 데에서 비롯된 것으로 추정된다.

이 집은 문간채, 사랑채, 안채, 사당으로 이루어져 있다. 문간채와 사랑채는 오래전에 훼손된 것을 최근에 다시 지었다.

안채는 대청을 중심으로 왼쪽에는 마루방을 두었고, 오른쪽에는 안방, 부엌, 작은방을 두었다. 안채와 사랑채의 오른쪽에는 정원이 있는데, 작은 연못이 있고 뒤쪽으로 대나무숲이 둘러져 있다.
