해설문

국문

구룡사는 숙종 46년(1720)*에 승려 도천(道天)이 창건한 사찰이다. 당시 66칸 규모로 산성의 가장 남쪽에 있다. 구룡사와 관련된 자세한 기록은 영조 40년(1764)에 은재거사(恩齋居士)가 세운 구룡사 사적비(九龍寺 事蹟碑)에 새겨져 있는데, 사적비는 현재 상당산성 남문 옆으로 옮겨 놓았다. 현재 구룡사 터에는 우물과 구룡사 사적비를 세웠던 곳에 홈이 파진 돌이 남아 있다. 그리고 서쪽으로 조금 떨어진 곳에는 장(醬)을 보관했던 시설이 있었다고 전한다.

상당산성 내에서는 구룡사(九龍寺), 남악사(南岳寺), 청심암(淸心庵) 등의 사찰이 있었다. 당시 상당산성의 축성과 운영은 승려들로 조직된 군대가 동원되었는데, 사찰은 이때 승려들이 머물기 위해 지은 것이다.

영문

Guryongsa Temple Site – Sangdangsanseong Cheongju

This is the former site of Guryongsa Temple established in 1720 in the far south of Sangdangsanseong Fortress. The fortress had two Buddhist temples and one hermitage located within its walls, namely, Guryongsa Temple, Namaksa Temple, and Cheongsimam Hermitage. At the time, military units formed by Buddhist monks were actively used in the fortress for the construction and maintenance of the fortress walls, and thus, temples were built to accommodate them.

A detailed history of the temple is recorded on the Monument of Guryonsa Temple erected in 1764 by Monk Eunjae. The monument was originally located at the temple’s site, bit is currently displayed next to/in front of* the southern gate of the fortress.

Structural remains of the temple’s site include a well and a stone with a rectangular hole where the monument was installed. It is said that a little bit to the west of the temple site there was a place/platform(?) where jars with various traditional sauces and condiments were stored.

영문 해설 내용

구룡사는 1720년 산성 내 가장 남쪽 지역에 창건되었던 사찰이다. 상당산성 내에는 구룡사, 남악사, 청심암 등의 사찰이 있었다. 당시 상당산성의 축성과 운영에는 승려들로 조직된 군대가 동원되었는데, 이 승려들이 머물수 있도록 여러 사찰을 지은 것이다.

구룡사와 관련된 자세한 기록은 1764년에 은재거사(恩齋居士)가 세운 구룡사 사적비에 새겨져 있다. 사적비는 원래 구룡사 터에 있었는데 지금은 상당산성 남문 옆으로 옮겨져 있다.

현재 구룡사 터에는 우물과 구룡사 사적비를 세웠던 홈이 파진 돌이 남아 있다. 그리고 구룡사에서 서쪽으로 조금 떨어진 곳에는 전통 장류를 보관했던 시설이 있었다고 전한다.
