해설문

국문

이 비석은 청풍 김씨 집안의 여종 삼월(三月)에 대한 이야기를 기록한 것이다. 비석은 김윤(金潤)의 무덤 좌측에 있다. 비문에 의하면, 1489년(성종20)에 청풍 김씨 집안의 아들 김윤이 태어난 지 3일만에 산모가 죽자, 여종인 삼월이 젖을 먹여 길렀다. 김윤이 18세에 결혼하여 또한 유복자를 남기고 죽었다. 삼월은 정성을 다하여 유복자를 보살피고 길러서 청풍 김씨 가문을 계승케하고, 벼슬이 우후(虞侯)에 이르렀다고 한다. 삼월이 죽은 지 150년 후인 1796년(정조20)에 김윤의 후손인 좌의정 김종수(金鍾秀)가 비석을 세웠다고 하였으니, 삼월의 공을 기리기 위해 세운 것이다.

Stele of Maid Servant Samwol, Cheongju

This stele honors a maid servant named Samwol, who served a family of the Cheongpung Kim Clan. Samwol breast-fed Kim Yun, a descendent of the Kim Clan, after his mother died just three days after his birth in 1489. Kim married at the age of 18, but died before his son was born, and Samwol looked after the child. His son became a high government official, continuing the prestigious family line. This stele is located to the left of Kim Yun’s tomb. It was erected in 1796, 150 years after her death, in appreciation of her dedication to the Kim family.
