Overlooking Gwangju: Mudeungsan Mountain 》Where Traditional Industry Thrived
Story
- Rich in natural resources, Mudeungsan Mountain is home to a kiln used to produce celadon, buncheong ware, and porcelain from the late period of the Goryeo dynasty (918-1392) to the early period of the Joseon dynary (1392-1910), as well as a steel production site used during the Japanese invasions of 1592-1598 by the civilian army leader Kim Deok-ryeong to produce weapons. The former site, located in Chunghyo-dong, is designated as a History Site, while the latter, located in Geumgok-dong, is designated as a Gwangju Monument.
