Andrew Eungi Kim (Ph.D in Sociology, University of Toronto) is Professor in the Division of International Studies at Korea University. He currently serves as the chair of Korean Studies in the Graduate School of International Studies and as the Director of the Canadian Studies Center at Korea University. He is also the president of the Korean Association for Canadian Studies. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, Akita International University in Japan, and the University of Calgary in Canada. His primary research interests are ethnic studies, culture, religion, social change, and comparative sociology. His articles have appeared in Social Indicators Research, Asian Survey, Journal of Contemporary Asia, Social Compass, Korea Observer, Sociology of Religion, Social History, Review of Religious Research, and Korea Journal, among others. He is presently completing work on two book projects: one examines the impact of rapid industrialization, modernization and globalization on the shaping of contemporary Korean society, while the other analyzes the characteristics of Korean cultural symbols, language, norms and values.
